HELLP syndrome s a severe life-threatening condition that occurs in pregnancy. It is a mnemonic which stands for: Haemolysis, Elevated Liver enzymes and Low Platelet count.

Right upper quadrant pain is a characteristic finding (not lower abdominal pain).
