Signs and Symptoms

  • These would be signs of resp failure or cardiac failure
  • Or failure to grow as expected
  • Cyanosis that doesn't get better with oxygen

Classifications

  • Left Heart Obstruction
  • Large left-to-right shunts
  • Cyanotic lesions
  • Obstruction to pulm blood flow
  • Separation of pulm and systemic circuts
  • Complete mixing of systemic and pulmonary blood
  • Pulmonary venous abnormalities

Post Cardiac Surgery

Kids may end up with:

  • Diaphgragmatic Palsy
  • Seen when theres upward movement of diaphragm during inspiration
  • Recurrent Laryngeal Nerve Palsy
  • Vascular "Rings and Slings" - Compression of airway by vasculature
